MANILA, Philippines — Cignal TV President and Chief Executive Officer Jane Jimenez-Basas commended the ability of women to become trailblazers during her acceptance speech at the PeopleAsia Women of Style and Substance 2023 Awards last night in Fairmont Hotel, Makati City.
Jimenez-Basas was among this year's recipients along the likes of singer-actress Sharon Cuneta, actress Dolly de Leon, volleyball star Alyssa Valdez, and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
After stating initial thanks to PeopleAsia and event organizers, Jimenez-Basas called the recognition an unexpected and unbelievable personal achievement given her humble beginnings, "This award is a testament to the power of style and substance and the impact it can have on the world."
She then went on to give her own definitions of style and substance, separately and together.

"When we talk about style, it's not just about the clothes we wear or the way we present ourselves," Jimenez-Basas said. "It's about ways in which we navigate the complexities of life. It's about the elegance in which we treat others and the kindness we show even in the face of challenges."
"Substance, on the other hand, is about the depth of our character, the authenticity of our actions, and the unwavering commitment for our values," she continued, adding that it is substance that gives style meaning, by "transforming it from a mere facade into a force for good."
Jimenez-Basas expressed her belief that style and substance are key to women being able to change the world, citing the different positions she also holds alongside her leadership role at MediaQuest.
"I do work very hard to make sure I contribute positively to this world," Jimenez-Basas ended, with an intent to share her recognition with fellow women particularly those who dare to dream. "Let's keep spreading style and substance and make the world a better place for all."
