MANILA, Philippines — An undersecretary who called for the removal of former Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno has been named board member of Land Bank of the Philippines.

He will serve the unexpired term of Virgilio Robes, who was supposed to step down from the board on June 30, 2018.

Hinlo said he is still waiting for his appointment paper. He said the new post would be a "new challenge" and would allow him to help promote development.

Hinlo used to handle public safety when he was still in the Interior department.

He and Interior Undersecretaries John Castriciones and Emily Padilla made headlines early this year when they accused Sueno of corruption and called for his ouster.
