Batch 2009, 2015 emerge champions in Pulpogan alumni caging

CEBU, Philippines — Batch 2009 and Batch 2015 reigned supreme in their respective divisions in the Pulpogan National High School (PNHS) Alumni Association Inter-Batch Basketball Tournament in Consolacion recently.

Kyrie Ybañez hit the game-winning buzzer-beater as Batch 2009 held off Batch 2002, 68-66, to grab the Category A crown.

Ybañez finished with 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Ernesto Tudtud paced Batch 2009 with 19 points, four boards, three assists and two steals to become the Finals MVP, while Jairus Tampus contributed a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

On the other hand, Batch 2015 edged Batch 2020, 62-57, to clinch the Category B title.

Dongstay Osabel sizzled with 14 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in an all-around performance for Batch 2015 that earned him the Finals MVP award.

Osabel was ably backed up by Jovan Jumao-as and Ariel Ortiz, who combined for 22 points.

Organized by the PNHS Alumni Association headed by Teresa Arrofo in partnership with North Sports Apparel, the event was made possible through the support of PNHS Principal Cyrus Wenceslao, Pulpogan Barangay Captain Avelilo Bihag, and councilor Michael Mercado.
