2025 budget hihimayin bago pirmahan - Palasyo

MANILA, Philippines — Patuloy pa ring sinusuri ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang 2025 national budget bago ito lagdaan upang matiyak na hindi lalabag sa Konstitusyon.

“The President and the Cabinet are RIGHT NOW (with or without the calls) thoroughly reviewing the various items of the GAA [General Appropriations Act] to make them conform to the Constitution, and to see to it that the budget prioritizes the main legacy thrusts of the Administration,” ayon kay Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

Sinabi rin ni Bersamin na labis na ­ikinokonsidera ng Pangulo sa programming at spending ang limitadong mapagkukunan ng pondo.

Nauna nang inanunsiyo ni Presidential Communications Office acting Secretary Cesar Chavez na pipirmahan sa Dis. 30,  2024 pagkatapos ng Rizal Day program sa Maynila ang GAA.

Kabilang sa mga tinutukan sa review sa 2025 national budget ang tinapyas na P10 billion sa Department of Education (DepEd), at ang napakalaking budget na ibinigay sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Binusisi rin ng Pangulo at mga economic manager ang mga nakasingit na proyekto sa GAA na wala sa orihinal na budget request ng ehekutibo.

Nagpaalala si Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri nitong Miyerkules na dapat suriing mabuti ang panukalang national budget dahil sa posibleng paglabag sa Konstitusyon at posibleng madala ang usapin sa Supreme Court.

“I’m hoping that they address the concerns of the education sector, especially the funding of the computerization of the [Department of Education], and the possible unconstitutionality of the education sector not anymore being the priority of the budget allocation as well as the zero funding para sa PhilHealth,” ani Zubiri.

Maaantala aniya ang pagpapatupad ng mga nakalinyang proyekto at programa kung idedeklara ito ng SC na labag sa Konstitusyon.
