MANILA, Philippines — Nagpatupad ang gobyerno ng 10 araw na alert status bilang pagtugon sa bagyong Nika at sa dalawa pang nagbabadyang tropical cyclones na sina Ofel at Pepito kaugnay ng pinsalang maari nitong idulot sa mga ‘high risk areas’ sa  bansa.

“The government has assured the public that all systems are in place as Luzon braces for Severe Tropical Storm Nika”, ayon kay Interior and Local Go­vernment Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Vice Chairman ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Sinabi ni Remulla na inabisuhan na ang nasa 2,500 barangays sa lugar na daraanan ni Nika para sa preemptive evacuations.

“You can see the scenario: bet­ween Nov. 11 and 17, we will have three typhoons entering the Philippines, all on the same path.  So, between Marce and Pepito, that means four typhoons in 10 days, following the same trajectory”, saad ni Remulla.

Kahapon ay nag-landfall ang bagyong Nika sa Dilasag, Aurora at binayo ang Northern Luzon.

Taglay nito ang lakas ng hangin na umaabot sa 130 km bawat oras at pagbugso na 160 km bawat oras.

Ayon sa PAGASA, hihina ito bilang isang severe tropical storn habang tatawid sa mainland Luzon dahil sa land interaction.

Lalabas ito sa Philippine Area of Res­ponsibility ngayong umaga ng Martes.
