MANILA, Philippines — Maaaring magpunta sa Pilipinas ang prosecutor ng International Criminal Court (ICC) at makapanayam ang mga suspek sa mga pagpatay sa war on drugs noong administrasyong Duterte, ayon kay Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra nitong Martes.

Subalit, nilinaw ni Guevarra na ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ay hindi legal na nakatali para asistehan ang ICC o mag-facilitate ng kanilang gagawin.

“The Philippine go­vernment cannot stop him from proceeding any way he wants. He can directly interview persons of interest online, through phone, by email, face-to-face, subject to the consent of these persons,” ani Guevarra.

Ito’y dahil aniya, sa tuluyan nang humiwalay sa ICC ang Pilipinas mula noong 2019.

“It has no legal duty to assist the ICC prosecutor in conducting his investigation,” dagdag ni Guevarra.

Una nang nag-post si dating Senador Antonio Trillanes ng larawan ng isang dokumento mula sa Office of the Prosecutor ng ICC na nagsasaad ng mga pangalan ng mga retirado at kasalukuyang matataas na opisyal na pinaghihinalaang lumahok sa madugong giyera kontra droga ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Bukod kay Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, pinangalanan sa dokumento ng ICC sina dating PNP chief Oscar Albayalde, dating PNP-CIDG chief Romeo Caramat, PNP-Drug Enforcement Group director Eleazar Mata, at National Police Commission Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo.
