Janitor, posibleng maging espiya sa DND at AFP – Sec. Gibo

MANILA, Philippines — Posibleng maging espiya sa Department of National Defense at sa Armed Forces of the Philippines ang mga janitor, ayon kay Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro.

Ayon kay Teodoro, pinatigil na niya ang outsourcing ng mga manpower services tulad ng janitorial staff sa kagawaran dahil hindi naman “properly motivated” ang mga ito kaya potensiyal na target ng pag-eespiya.

“Even our janitorial services, I have given my instruction to stop outsourcing these things already because you are getting them from manpower agencies: they are not properly motivated, they are part of your secure environment, and yet they are a possible target for espionage and other things,” anang Kalihim.

Paliwanag ni Teodoro, mahalaga sa pag-outsource ng mga serbisyo ang mga service provider na may kinalaman at may sapat na impormasyon sa operational security ng DND at AFP.

Maging ang mga regular na contractor ng kagawaran at militar ay ipinasailalim niya sa mahigpit na vetting.

Dagdag ng kalihim, ongoing ngayon ang full Security review sa DND at AFP mula sa itaas hanggang sa ibaba.

Oktubre 2023 nang ipagbawal ni Teodoro sa DND employees ang paggamit ng artificial intelligence-powered apps na lumilikha ng enhanced portraits, at sinabing maaari itong magresulta sa identity theft.
