The Philippines renewed on January 9 its appeal for clemency for a Filipino woman on death row in Indonesia, hours before the country's president was scheduled to arrive in Manila for an official visit.

"Yes, with the decision of the Indonesian government to look into the case filed by Mary Jane Veloso in the Philippines," wika ni Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil sa isang mensahe sa mga reporters ngayong Huwebes.

"In fact, the Indonesian government is waiting for the decision of the Philippine court on the case she filed."

Dahil dito, napatawan sila ng life imprisonment at P2 milyong multa.
