MANILA, Philippines — Karagdagang benepisyo para sa healthcare workers (HCWs) ang planong isakatuparan ng bagong talagang si Health Secretary Ted Herbosa bilang tugon sa kakulangan ng bansa dahil sa migration.

Sa Laging Handa public briefing kahapon, sinabi ni Herbosa na makikipag-usap siya sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary at aalamin kung ano ang maaaring gawin para mabigyan ng karagdaqgang benepisyo ang healthcare workers.

“If it is not possible to increase their salary, at least we can provide them extra benefits to encourage them not to leave and work in other countries,” aniya pa.

Layunin ng hakbang na maging posible na ang mga nurse at iba pang healthcare workers ay mamuhay ng disente  sa sariling bansa at affordable na magpapasaya sa kanila sa paglilingkod sa mga Pilipino.

Kasabay nito, tinitingnan din ang sahod ng mga nurse sa government health facilities na katumbas din ng kinikita ng mga nurse sa pribadong sektor.

“What we want is to hire additional HCWs given that there are those seeking jobs abroad and we cannot prevent them from doing that,” aniya pa.

Ikinukunsidera na rin ang pagkuha ng mga graduate sa four-year medical course kahit hindi pa board passers.

“They can be hired in government even without their license and classify them under the board eligible category wherein they will be given 3 to 5 years to pass the board exam,” paliwanag niya.

Handa rin aniya, siyang kumuha ng mga hindi lisensyadong nursing graduates kung mayroon silang mga diploma mula sa accredited nursing schools, sa hiwalay na panayam ng ANC.

Sa kabila pa aniya ng kakulangan ng HCWs ay marami sa kanila ang nagtatrabaho sa BPO at tourism industries.
