Pag-apruba ni Pangulong Marcos sa RCEP, ikinagalak ng environmentalist

MANILA, Philippines — Ikinagalak ng isang grupo ng mga Pilipino na “clean and green miners” ang desisyon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na aprubahan ang isang executive order para sa buong implementasyon ng Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) ng ASEAN Plus nations.

Ayon kay Offshore Mining Chamber of the Philippines, Inc. (OMCPI) Chairman Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon, tama lamang ang desisyon ng Pangulo na malaking tulong sa clean and green mining industry.

Ang bago at malinis na offshore mining ay ibang-iba sa kinagawian at popular na land based mining na laganap ngayon sa bansa. Pangangalap ito ng mga precious minerals tulad ng nickel, copper, manganese, iron, platinum, silver, gold, palladium at mga rare earth elements sa ilalim ng karagatan ng Pilipinas upang  gamitin sa electronics at renewable energy industry.

“The clean and green mining industry and the various companies under the Philippines new blue economy sector (beyond just fishing) may benefit from the preferential tariff reduction for our imported industrial goods and equipment from abroad,” ani Aragon.

Pinuri rin ng OMCPI ang Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) dahil sa kanilang inisyatibo sa RCEP upang maisakatuparan ng Malakanyang.

Ani Aragon, kailangan ng clean and green mining industry ang lahat ng tulong ng pamahalaan.

Ang nasabing industriya ay lubos na kailangan at gamit ng buong mundo para sa “clean and green energy transition” para malabanan ang climate change.
