MANILA, Philippines — Umaasa ang gobyerno na makakatulong ang United States (US) Coast Guard at Air Force sa paglilinis sa Mindoro oil spill.

Ayon kay National Defense Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr., na ang US Coast Guard at Air Force ay darating sa Pilipinas para tumulong sa ongoing clean up operations sa massive oil spill sa nasabing lalawigan.

Sa ulat ni Galvez kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., inaasahan nila na anumang araw ngayon ay dara­ting sa bansa ang buong US Coast Guard at ang C-5, ang pinakamalaki at ang US Air Force strategic airlifter.

Si Galvez ay chairman ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), kabilang  Office of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) chief Admiral Artemio Abu at iba pang opisyal ng Armed Forces at local government officials ay nagsagawa ng aerial inspection kahapon sa mga apektadong areas kung saan mayroong oil spill.

Iginiit pa ni Galvez na ang sitwasyon sa mga areas ng Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (MIMAROPA) at Western Visayas regions na naapektuhan ng oil spill ay mas maayos na ngayon.

Sa ngayon ay nakapagbigay ang administrasyong Marcos at non-government organization ng P95 milyon halaga ng assistance sa mga residente na naapektuhan ng oil spill.
