EDCA site sa Cagayan, aprub kay Governor Mamba — Galvez
MANILA, Philippines — Inihayag ni Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. na aprubado na ni Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba ang pagtatayo ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca) site sa kanyang probinsya.
“We have already talked to Governor Mamba … and he said that for as long as the national government has decided, he will abide with the decision of the President, and I told him that we have already decided, so he will conform with the decision,” sinabi ni Galvez sa press conference sa Basa Air Base, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
Una nang tinutulan ni Mamba na gawing EDCA site ang Cagayan sa pangamba na maipit sa gulo sa pagitan ng US at China.
Ani Galvez, halos lahat din ng alkalde sa probinsya ay suportado na ang EDCA, sabay sabing masaya siya dahil nirerespeto ng mga ito ang Pangulo. “We are so happy that the local leaders are very amenable and they respect so much the President, considering that the President enjoys much popular support,” pagpapatuloy ni Galvez. Ang Cagayan ay matatagpuan sa hilagang bahagi ng Pilipinas at nasa 600 kilometro na lamang mula sa Taiwan. Bukod sa Cagayan, pinangalanan ng ilang military officials ang posibilidad ng paglalagay ng EDCA facility sa Zambales, Isabela, at Palawan.
