Korte Suprema ibinasura DQ, cancellation of COC petitions vs Marcos Jr.
MANILA, Philippines (Updated 4:43 p.m.) — Pormal nang ibinasura ng Korte Suprema ang mga reklamong disqualification at cancelation of certificate of candidacy laban kay president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Kaugnay pa rin ito ng mga kasong inihain ng Martial Law survivor na si Bonifacio Ilagan at nina Fr. Christian Buenafe, et al.

Bumoto ang Supreme Court en banc ng 13-0 para ibasura ang mga naturang reklamo. Sa kabila nito, hindi lumahok sa botohan sina Associate Justices Henri Jean Paul Inting at Antonio Kho Jr.
Una nang ibinasura ng Commission on Elections ang mga reklamong nabanggit, na pare-parehong may kinalaman sa pag-"falsify" diumano ni Marcos Jr. sa kanyang COC nang sabihing hindi raw siya naging liable para sa kahit na anong kaso.
Paliwanag ng Supreme Court, hindi lumahok si Inting dahil sa kapatid siya ni incumbent Comelec Commissioner Sococco Inting, habang dating Comelec Commissioner naman si Kho.
"The Court also affirmed the 17 January 2022 and 10 May 2022 Resolutions of the COMELEC in SPA No. 21-156 (DC) and COMELEC Resolutions dated 10 February 2022 and 10 May 2022 in SPA No. 21-212 (DC)," wika ng pahayag ng Korte.
"The Court held that in the exercise of its power to decide the present controversy led them to no other conclusion but that respondent Marcos Jr. is qualified to run for and be elected to public office. Likewise, his COC, being valid and in accord with the pertinent law, was rightfully upheld by the COMELEC."
Dahil dito, lalong magiging madulas ang napipintong panunumpa ni Marcos Jr. bilang ika-17 pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas sa Huwebes.
Bagama't nailabas na ang resulta ng botohan, hindi pa available para sa publiko ang opisyal na kopya ng desisyon, bagay na ia-upload sa SC website oras na makuha ito mula sa Office of the Clerk of Court En Banc.
Iginigiit ng mga petitioners na hindi maaaring tumakbo si Bongbong dahil sa kanyang 1995 conviction mula sa Quezon City Regional Trial Court dahil sa ilang beses na na kabiguang hindi maghain ng income tax return.
Hindi na rin daw siya dapat pinahahawak ng anumang posisyon sa gobyerno dahil sa paggawa ng krimeng may kinalaman sa "moral turpitude." — may mga ulat mula kay Kristine Joy Patag
