OMB chair Ricketts sinuspinde ng 90 araw ng Sandiganbayan
MANILA, Philippines – Isinailalim sa 90 days preventive suspension ng Sandiganbayan si Optical Media Board (OMB) chair Ronnie Ricketts upang bigyang daan ang pagbusisi sa kasong graft na may kinalaman sa lihim na paglalabas sa compound ng OMB ng mga nakumpiskang pirated CDs at DVDs noong 2010.
Ayon sa Ombudsman, mandatory na isyuhan ng suspension order si Rickets.
Ayon sa korte, ang pagsuspinde sa mga inaakusahan sa kasong graft ay hindi nangangahulugan na pinaparusahan na ang mga akusado.
“The Court has no discretion neither can it ascertain or calculate whether the accused is capable of committing the acts sought to be prevented by the suspension, more to the point, the court has neither the discretion nor duty to determine whether preventive suspension is required to prevent the accused from using his office to intimidate witnesses or frustrate his prosecution or continue committing malfeasance in office,” ayon sa korte.
Bunga nito, inatasan ng Ombudsman ang Office of the President na nangangasiwa sa OMB na ipatupad ang suspension kay Rickets.
Nagpalabas din ng cease at desist order ang Ombudsman upang huwag munang makapagtrabaho ang kapwa akusado ni Rickets na sina Manuel J. Mangubat, Joseph Dineros Arnaldo at Glenn Sarming Perez.
