Comelec hindi nagmamadali sa pag-imprenta ng mga balota

MANILA, Philippines – Dahil sa mga petisyon at inaantay na desisyon mula sa korte, ipinaliwanag ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na hindi sila nagmamadali sa pag-iimprenta ng mga balota para sa elesyon sa Mayo.

"I don’t think we are printing the ballots as soon as possible. I think we are printing it at the proper time. We are not in a hurry. We are also not printing the ballots late. We are printing the ballots when they are supposed to be printed," wika ni Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.

Nakatakdang iimprenta ang balota sa Pebrero 1 ngunit umapela si Senate President Fraklin Drilon sa Comelec na ipagpaliban muna ito at hintayin ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema sa diskwalipikasyon ni Sen. Grace Poe.

 “The possibility that the ballots may contain names of those disqualified will cause a lot of confusion. So I urge strongly - ako ay nakikiusap kay Chairman Bautista - na ipagpaliban ang pag-imprenta ng balota,” pahayag ni Drilon.

 “Kung may mga pangalan doon na sabi ng Korte Supreme ay disqualified, it may no longer reflect the true sentiment of the voters. I am not passing judgment on the qualification nor disqualification of Sen. Poe, I am just saying that the more prudent thing to do is to wait for the final decision of the Supreme Court,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi pa ni Jimenez na hindi rin matutuloy ang eleksyon hangga’t hindi pa handa ang Comelec.

"The bottom line for the Comelec is readiness for the elections," dagdag niya.

Sa initial list na inilabas ng poll body kahapon ay kabilang pa si Poe sa mga kandidato sa pagkapangulo kahit na diniskwalipika na siya ng Comelec.

"Whatever happens to the case of Sen. Poe, we will treat those who will also go to the SC the same way. We will treat it exactly the same way. We will treat a certain candidate the same as other candidates," ani Jimenez.

Nilinaw ng Comelec na subject to change pa ang inilabas nilang listahan depende sa magiging desisyon ng korte.

Walong katao ang nasa initial list ng presidential candidates, habang anim naman sa pagkabise presidente.
