El Niño maaaring magtagal hanggang Hunyo 2016
MANILA, Philippines — Inaasahang titindi pa ang El Niño hanggang sa ikalawang quarter ng 2016, ayon sa state weather bureau.
Sinabi ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) ngayong Miyerkules na patuloy ang pagtaas ng sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) sa equatorial Pacific mula nitong Hulyo.
“A number of climate models show that the ongoing El Niño event is comparable or may even surpass the SSTAs observed during the 1997 – 1998 El Niño,” pahayag ni PAGASA Acting Administrator Vicente Malano.
“It is also predicted that the current El Niño and associated SST warning may further strengthen and is likely to persist until the second quarter of 2016,” dagdag niya.
Makararamdam ng mas mainit na temperatura ang bansa dahil sa epekto ng El Nino.
Inaasahan ding bababa ang tsansa ng pag-ulan na maaaring magresula sa tagtuyot.
