Poll watchdog kinastigo

MANILA, Philippines – Kinastigo ni Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro, chairman ng suffrage and electoral reform committee, ang election watchdog na Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPeg) dahil umano sa walang basehang pagbibintang sa Commission on Elections kaugnay ng kontrata sa Smartmatic Corp.

Pinagsabihan ni Castro si Evita Jimenez ng CenPeg na nakasisira ito sa integridad ng komisyon at nadadamay ang kredibilidad ng eleksiyon.

“Unless your group has something that’s substantiated, exercise restraint in coming out with statements that place the Comelec in bad light,” ayon kay Castro.

Binira rin ni Castro ang grupo ni dating Commissioner Gus Lagman na Citizens for Clean and Credible Elections (C3E) at Automated Election Systems Watch (AES Watch) na “iresponsable, duwag at nuisance”.

“These irresponsible attacks against the Comelec militates not only the poll body but also the democratic system,” ayon pa sa congressman.

Nauna rito, hinamon din ni Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes si Lagman na ipakita ang binibintang nitong “high-tech tampering” precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines na maaaring isagawa sa halalan 2016.

Iginigiit ng pangkat ni Lagman at ibang kritiko ng PCOS na gawa ng Smartmatic na bumalik ang bansa sa manual voting at manual counting saka gagamit ng smartphones, iPads, tablets and laptops para sa transmission para sa canvassing.
