US solons sumuporta sa Pinas vs China
MANILA, Philippines - Nagpahayag ng matinding suporta ang mga miÂyembro ng US Congress sa Pilipinas sa paghahain ng kaso sa United Nations arbitral body laban sa China hinggil sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea o South China Sea.
“The members of the US congress expressed their very strong support for our efforts to resolve the situation there in a peaceful manner and in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (Unclos),†sabi ni Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for the Office of American Affairs Carlos Sorreta matapos ang kanilang pagbisita sa Department of Foreign Affairs at pakikipagpulong kay DFA Sec. Albert Del Rosario kahapon.
Kabilang sa mga tinalakay ang aksyon ng Pilipinas sa Unclos arbitral body at interesado umano sila sa kahalagahan ng argumento ng Pilipinas na kanilang mariing sinusuportahan.
Ang US congressional delegation (Codel) na pinamumunuan ng bagong chairman ng US House committee on foreign affairs na si Cong. Edward Royce ay nasa bansa para sa 3-araw na pagbisita.
Pagkatapos ang pagbisita ng US Codel sa Pilipinas ay didiretso sila sa Beijing upang makipagpulong naman sa mga Chinese officials para talakayin din ang nasabing kaso ng Pilipinas laban sa China sa UN hinggil sa territorial dispute.
