Gun ban sa ARMM nirekomenda ng DILG

MANILA, Philippines - Nirekomenda ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang pagpapataw ng 30-araw na region-wide “gun ban” sa Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) para mapanatili ang katahimikan at kaayusan, at masiguro ang malinis at pangkalaha­tang pagpapalista muli ng mga botante mula July 9 hanggang July 18, 2012.

Ayon kay Sec. Jesse Robredo, ang mungkahing gun ban ay ipapatupad 10 araw bago ang registration period at lahat ng Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFORs) na inisyu ng PNP sa mga sibilyan at iba pang government personnel ay suspendido sa panahong nabanggit.

Inihayag ni Robredo ang kanyang mungkahi sa idinaos na ARMM Local Government Units Convention on Local Governance na ginanap sa Davao City na dinaluhan ni President Benigno S. Aquino, ARMM OIC Gov. Mujiv Hataman at kanyang mga opis­yales, limang governors at mahigit sa 140 mayors mula sa ARMM, Come­lec representatives, at top security officials sa rehiyon.

Giit ni Robredo, lahat ng politiko sa rehiyon, partikular ang mga incumbent governors at mayors ay hindi ligtas sa gun ban, at iyon lamang umanong may “valida­ted threat assessments” na inisyu ng Philippine National Police ang pag­lalaanan ng dalawang unipormadong police security escorts habang may gun ban.
