4 kinasuhan sa smuggling

MANILA, Philippines - Kinasuhan ng Bureau of Customs  (BOC) kahapon ng kasong anti-smuggling ang dalawang importer at dalawang bro­ker matapos na magtangka umanong magpuslit ng tinatayang P18-milyong halaga ng digital video discs (DVDs), laptop, cellphone accessories at hindi tukoy na uri ng kemikal.

Ayon kay Customs Commissioner Ruffy Bia­ zon, nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Tariffs and Customs Code of the Philippines at Republic Act 9239 (Optical Media Act of 2003) ang Zachris General Merchandise na pag-aari ng isang Daribeth Sevillano ng Mabolo, Cebu City, at ang licensed customs broker niya na si Joseph Spencer Lopez da­hil nabigo umanong ma­ipakita ang itinatakdang permit ng Optical Media Board para sa 20-footer container van  na may la­­mang 1,200 kahon ng DVDs (P8-milyon).

Kasama ring kinasuhan ang Richflow Trading owner na si Crisanto Caldozo Jr., at kaniyang broker na si Janet Jackelou Coriga na nagdeklara lamang na housewares ang nasabat na 40-footer container van na naglalaman ng 88,750 unit ng DVDs, music DVDs, 103,800 assorted cell phone at laptop accessories,  hindi pa tukoy na kemikal at iba pang produkto na umaabot sa P10-milyon ang halaga.

Ayon kay Biazon, nag-ugat ito sa nasabat na illegal shipment ng Zachris sa Port of Cebu noong Marso 3, 2011 at Marso 31, 2011 naman ang Richflow sa Port of Manila.
