FPIC ipinakita ang progreso ng West Tower rehab sa korte

MANILA, Philippines - Ipinakita ng First Philippine Industrial Corporation (FPIC) ang progreso ng rehabilitation at restoration ng West Tower Condominium sa Brgy. Bangkal, Makati City sa isinagawang ocular inspection sa lugar kahapon ni Judge Eugene Paras ng Makati Regional Trial Court.

Ang inspeksiyon ay bahagi ng pagsisikap ng presiding judge na maging pamilyar sa tema ng civil case na iniharap ng mga residente ng 176-unit condo na naapektuhan ng pagtagas ng pipeline ng FPIC noong nakaraang taon.

“We welcome the opportunity to show the court and other stakeholders what we have done at West Tower, that is, after only two months since being given full access to the building’s common areas,” wika ni FPIC president Anthony Mabasa.

Kabilang sa mga nagawa ng FPIC ang pag-aalis ng tubig at paglilinis sa basement ng condo. Naglagay na rin ang  FPIC ng onsite water treatment facility sa gusali, na matagumpay na natanggal ang anumang bakas ng hydrocarbon mula sa tubig bago ang pagpapakawala. Ang ginawang ito ng FPIC ay pumasa sa strict water quality standards ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).  

Nasimulan na rin ng kumpanya ang operasyon ng Vapor Extraction and Filtration System (VEFS), na sumasala sa mga marka ng petroleum vapors na nagmumula sa West Tower basement.  Matagumpay nitong naalis ang amoy na inirereklamo ng mga kalapit na residente.

“What basically differentiates West Tower from nearby buildings in Bangkal is that it has the lowest basement level through which groundwater in the area passes through. Even without the petroleum leak happening, it will still have water coming in the basement through the building’s back drains, paliwanag ni Mabasa.

Naibalik na rin ang electricity at water utilities sa gusali, gayundin ang trabaho ng maintenance staff nito. Ang dalawang elevators ay naayos na rin at maaari nang magamit matapos magpalabas ng permit to operate ang Makati City government.

“We could have done a little bit more if full access to the building had been given to us much earlier. We could have reached our original target to finish the restoration of the building this month,” dagdag pa ni Mabasa.

Sinabi ni  Paolo Cruz, may-ari ng 2 units sa West Tower, na umaasa siyang matatapos ng FPIC ang rehabilitasyon ng  West Tower ngayong taon. Pansamantala umano siyang umalis sa gusali noong nakaraang taon at tinanggap ang tulong pinansiyal ng FPIC para sa relocation.
