Incoming president, dapat tanggapin si Corona - Malacañang

MANILA, Philippines - Iginiit kahapon ng Malacañang sa susunod na pangulo ng bansa na dapat tanggapin si Justice Renato Corona bilang susunod na Chief Justice ng Supreme Court.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Ricardo Saludo, sumasang-ayon sila sa panawagan ni Chief Justice Reynato Puno na dapat irespeto ng susunod na pangulo ang rule of law.

“We echo the call of our esteemed Chief Justice (Reynato) Puno for the next president to respect the rule of law and accept Justice Corona as the duly appointed next CJ,” sabi ni Saludo.

Sinabi pa ni Saludo na tama si Puno nang sabihin nito na magkakawatak-watak ang lahat kung mawawala ang ‘rule of law’.

Ang nararapat aniya’y irespeto ng lahat ang umiiral na batas lalo na ng mga matataas na tao sa gobyerno.

“Justice Puno is right in saying: ‘Without the rule of law, our society will disintegrate. All of us should observe the rule of law. No one can excuse himself and say he is not covered by the rule of law. The higher you are in the government, the more you should respect the rule of law,” sabi ni Saludo.

Nauna rito, ilang ulat na iginiit ni incoming president Sen. Noynoy Aquino na hindi kikilalanin ang itatalagang bagong chief justice ni Pangulong Gloria Arroyo dahil labag umano ito sa umiiral na election ban.

Nagbanta rin si Aquino na hindi siya manunumpa sa harap ni Corona bilang ika-15 pangulo ng bansa kundi sa isang kapitan ng barangay sa Tarlac.
