MANILA, Philippines - Bunga na rin ng pangamba na kontaminado ng salmonella, pinababawi ng Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) sa loob ng 24 oras ang dalawang pistachio products na mula sa Estados Unidos.
Lumilitaw sa Advisory 2009-004 ng BFAD, kailangan na i-recall ang produkto ng Setton Farms Premium California Roasted Salted Pistachios na inaangkat ng Duty Free Philippines at ang Setton Farms Roasted Salted Pistachios na ini-import naman ng Andalucia Trading Co. Inc..
“The BFAD has directed the above-named importers to immediately withdraw or cause the withdrawal within 24 hours from today of the above products from all market shelves,” nakasaad pa sa advisory na nilagdaan ni BFAD Director Leticia Gutierrez.
Ayon sa BFAD, ang advisory ay ipinalabas kasunod na rin ng isinagawang imbestigasyon ng US Food and Drug Administration sa salmonella contamination sa pistachio products na produkto ng Setton Pistachio ng Terra Bella Inc. California at sa boluntaryong pagbawi nito sa kanilang processed pistachio products.
Matatandaang una nang ipinagbawal ng BFAD at ng Department of Health (DOH) ang pagtigil sa pag-aangkat ng pistachio products mula sa US matapos na pumutok ang isyu hinggil sa salmonella na posibleng taglay ng pistachio nuts. (Doris Franche)
