Reporma sa DepEd ipatutupad

Inatasan ni Pangulong Arroyo ang Department of Education (DepEd) na makipag-ugnayan sa Commission on Audit (COA) upang maipatupad ang inirererkomenda nitong reporma para sa Consolidated Audit Report na inilabas noong Mayo 2008.

“Dep Ed has one of the biggest if not the largest budget allocation because of the priority we are giving to education. These resources should be used efficiently to upgrade the quality of education on our schools,” sabi ng Pangulo.

Sinabi naman ni Joel Lacsamana, senior policy adviser ng DepEd, ang panukalang ito ng COA ay lubos na makakatulong upang lalong mabigyan ng prayoridad ang pagga­mit ng tamang resources.

Nais ng Dep Ed na am­yendahan ang kasaluku­yang Roxas law at ilaan ang 80% sa Capital outlay para sa districts na may kakulangan sa classrooms habang ang 10% ay ibaba­tay sa populasyon at ang natitirang 10% ay para sa contingency fund.

Pinag-aaralan ding ma­buti ng DepEd ang ob­ser­basyon ng COA hinggil sa ICT at multi-media equipments at isinasapinal na ang guidelines para sa computerization program habang nakikipag-ugnayan naman ito sa National Food Authority para sa food for school program. (Rudy Andal)
