Peewee, hopeless case na – DILG

Wala nang basehan sa batas ang ipinapangalandakan ng nadismis na Pasay City Mayor Peewee Trinidad at abogado nitong si Rene Saguisag na makabalik pa sa puwesto.

Ito ang naging tugon ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa request ni Trinidad na muling makaupo bilang alkalde ng lungsod base sa Ombudsman’s Rule of Procedure.

Sa pahayag ni G.J. Emeterio, DILG director III, sa amended Rules of Procedure ng Ombudsman, ang apila ng mga akusado ay hindi maaaring magpahinto sa implementasyon ng desisyon ng Ombudsman, na tumatayong isang quasi-judicial body.

"An appeal shall not stop the decision from being executory. In case the penalty is suspension or removal and the respondent wins such an appeal, he shall be considered as having been under preventive suspension and shall be paid the salary and such other emoluments that he did not receive by reason of the suspension or removal," nakasaad sa Rule II Section 7 ng Procedure in Administrative Cases ng Ombudsman Act o RA 6770.

"Talagang nakarma si Peewee at ang mga kasamahan nito dahil sa basura," pahayag ni Atty. Joseph Castillo ng Pasay City Legal Office.

Ayon kay Atty. Castillo, napakalaking halaga ang involve na aabot sa mahigit sa P200 milyon kaya kandidato rin sa kasong plunder si Peewee dahil sa hindi nagpa-bidding ang administrasyon nito ng dalawang taon at ini-extend ang overpriced na kontrata sa basura ng apat na beses.

Mula P278 milyon noong panahon ni Trinidad, naibaba ni Panaligan ang kontrata sa basura ng P177 milyon ngayon. (Doris Franche)
