Hinirang ni Pangulong Arroyo bilang bagong Foreign Affairs Secretary kapalit ni yumaong Blas Ople, ang career diplomat na si Delia Albert.

Nabatid kay Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye, si Albert ay foreign undersecretary at naging kinatawan ng Pilipinas sa meetings ng Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Si Albert, 61, tubong Baguio City, ay nagsilbi ring embahador ng bansa sa Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, dating East Germany, Germany at Australia.

Nagtapos siya sa UP at nagpakadalubhasa sa Switzerland, Germany at sa John F. Kennedy School of Government sa Harvard. (Ulat ni Lilia Tolentino)
