Sa demokraya unsa ang eleksiyon?

Ang Google maoy atong patubagon. Lagmit nakabasa na usab tingali kamo niini, apan bisan pa, ania: “Elections are the central institution of democratic representative governments.” Kini tungod kay ang gahum, o awtoridad sa gobiyerno nagagikan sa katawhan.

“Voting is more than just a civic duty; it is a powerful tool that shapes the future of our society. It is a powerful act that affects everything from local community issues to national policies. “It’s your opportunity to make your voice heard, hold leaders accountable, and contribute to the direction of your society. Ang pagbotar dili kay katungdanan lamang sa usa ka lungsoranon, kundili, usa kini ka gamhanan  nga kasangkapang lungsodnon nga maka-apektar pag-umol sa mga isyo lokal, ug nasudnong mga polisiya. Kahigayunan kini nga madunggan ug makapalanog sa atong mga tingog.

Tan-awa unsa ka gamhanan ang eleksiyon, nga usahay ato lang kining dula-dulaan, in some cases, atong i-negosyo, nga moingon kita, ‘happy days are here again,’ despite sa pagka-balaan niini.

Makapaningil ug makapatubag kita sa mga gimbuhaton o performance sa atong mga leader. So, come election day, vote wisely and responsibly. Your single vote counts. Tabang pag-umol sa atong ugma.

Ug sa atong series on leadership,  Matud ni Lwrence Liao, sa iyang sinuwat, ‘sacrifice of personal glory is  history’s measure of the greatness of a leader.’ Liao was referring to Don Sergio, nga matud pa, ‘this habit of sacrifice was present even when his personal comfort was involved, when he believed it’s consistent with his duty to country.

Gisugilon nga sa pag-adto ni Don Sergio sa America, wala siya mosakay sa luho nga limousine (nga entitled man unta siya), kundili misakay og taxi, ug wala mo-istar sa mahalon nga hotel nga sagad puy-an sa mga.presidente. Mi-istar lang sa giingon dinhi nga modest quarter, lagmit lodging house lang, o pension house.

Kay matud niya: “How could I when so many of our countrymen live in such misery as they do?” Mahimo kaha ni nato dinhi karon?  Mo-travel ka abroad, sa imong kahimtang didto, maka-hunahuna pa kaha ka sa gipanggutom nimong kaigsuonan nga maoy naggasto sa imong pagpahayahay gawas sa nasud?

Anyway, mao kadto si Don Sergio, kinsa, matud pa, ‘always the principle was the welfare of the people whom he pledged to serve; and no amount of political expediency would make him betray the principle.’ Worthy of emulation. 

Dugang ni Moje Ramos Aquino: “A nation without a visions is doomed for disaster.” Unsa may vision sa atong nasud karon? Asa man ta paingon?

Daghan kitag giatubang nga problema karon, giuna ba kini nato pag-atubang, una kita maka-aksiyon sa atong vision?

Ang good government wala mag-agad sa mga piniling opisyal sa gobiyerno, kundili sa katawhan mismo, kaylagi ang gobiyerno is of the people, by the people and for the people. Kita ang gobiyerno.
