Banat Opinyon

Unsa ba gud ning ‘walking pneumonia’?

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Nangutana ko sa internet (Google), ug ang tubag: “Walking pneumonia is a milder form of pneumonia. Their symptoms are similar, but walking pneumonia has a low fever and a cough that doesn't produce phlegm (dry cough). Pneumonia has a higher fever (101 to 105 degrees F, or 38 to 40 degrees C) and a cough that produces phlegm (wet or productive cough).”

What then is pneumonia disease? It seems nga ato na kining nasabtan, pero maglisud kita’g pasabot kon unsa kini nga matang nga sakit. Apan, ania kini: “Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material), causing cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing.” Sabot?

Atong masabot nga “mild,” dili grabe nga sakit, busa walay angay kiabalak-an ug kahadlokan. Gani, ang Department of Health

Unsa man sad ning ‘air sacs’ diha sa atong baga o sa respiratory system?  Ania: “lveoli are tiny air sacs in your lungs that take up the oxygen you breathe in and keep your body going. Although they're microscopic, alveoli are the workhorses of your respiratory system. People have an average of 480 million alveoli in their lungs, located at the end of bronchial tubes.”

Headline sa The Philippine Star, atong kutluon: “DOH allays fears over ‘walking pneumonia,’ dili angay kabalak-an ni kahadlokan. Ila kining gitawag og ‘influence-like’ illness. Meaning, dili gyud flu, agid-agid lang.

Ania kining hingpit nga asoy: “The Department of Health (DOH) has allayed growing fears over Mycoplasma pneumoniae, also known as “walking pneumonia.” which is curable and the infection can be prevented by simply observing minimum public health protocol.”

So, again, no cause for alarm.

Matud pa, “all ages can be affected by walking pneumonia.  Those with weak immune system and living in close settings are at higher risk for more severe infection. The DOH reassured the public that respiratory pathogens can be blocked through handwashing, masking, adequate ventilation and vaccination.”

Ug ang  DOH nag-ingon nga, all 4 ‘walking pneumonia’ cases have recovered.”

Ug niay gikan sa PAGASA: “At least one cyclone to enter Philippines before Christmas.” Mao ba? Hinaut nga dili kini mahitabo.
