2 die in La Union road accident

BALAOAN, La Union, Philippines — Two people died while two others were injured when a pick-up truck hit a tricycle in this town on Friday.

Tricycle driver William Valdez, 40, and his passenger Wilfred Valdez, 17, were declared dead on arrival at the Balaoan District Hospital, police said.

Two girls – Marie Joy Anical, 26, and Marian Pacupac, 24 – who were on board the truck driven by Neil John Corpuz, 23, were taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries.

Investigation showed the truck tried to overtake, causing it to hit the tricycle.

Corpuz was taken to the police station for questioning.
