CEBU, Philippines - An early morning fire totally destroyed an insulation foam factory in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.
Two employees of the Mars Foam Manufacturing Corporation, Rufino Menguito and Noe Villasola, had the common sense to move two liquefied petroleum gas tanks out of the building when the fire broke out.
The two workers tried to put out the fire by themselves with fire extinguishers but called for help when it grew bigger.
Villasola sustained minor skin burns.
Before transferring the two employees tried to put out the fire with the use of fire extinguishers but sought help from firemen when the fire grew bigger.
The building was made of timber and steel sheets, according to FO1 Julian Cabatingan.
Security guard Evangeline Rabaya claimed she heard an explosion and later smelled gas before the fire broke out.
But fire investigator, Nilo Cosido said faulty electrical wiring is being suspected as the cause of the blaze.
