Wil to mellow? Cindy Miranda shares Kuya Wil’s ‘change’ on set
Apart from the now-showing film ‘40,’ Kiko Estrada leads the cast of the TV5 primetime show ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa.’ His ‘40’ leading lady Cindy Miranda, on the other hand, is a co-host in the game show ‘Wil To Win,’ also on TV5.

Kiko Estrada is now a bonafide primetime star!

Indeed, hard work, if done with real action and not lip service, works every time! The “Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa” star is a walking and living proof.

If you would ask Kiko four years ago if he ever thought he would be where he is right now — leading a primetime action show on TV5 during weeknights at 7:30 — maybe he would be in doubt.

But now he would tell us, “That’s Kiko Estrada time slot!” He is owning his newfound success after working so hard to transform himself during the pandemic.

His management, Viva Entertainment, gave him a shot through the show as the lead character Abra. It started in the afternoon slot of TV5 and is now reaping good results as it airs after the “Frontline Pilipinas” newscast during the weekdays.

Soon, Kiko has good news for “Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa” viewers, saying, “Blood, sweat and tears were given to this show and I’m not going to stop.”

“Our action scenes are insane, on top of the building. It’s all hush-hush, but it’s action times 10,” he added.

The author interviews Kiko at the premiere of ‘40,’ which is now screening in cinemas. The romantic movie is directed by Dado Lumibao.

We caught up with Kiko just this week in the midst of Typhoon Enteng. Most showbiz events were cancelled this week but the actor pushed through with the premiere of his film “40,” which was released last Wednesday in cinemas.

Fans turned up in Quezon City despite the pouring rain and he just knew he had to be there. To talk about the film “40,” Kiko stars in it alongside Cindy Miranda. The story starts with Cindy’s character Megan, a vlogger and content creator who becomes controversial after someone exposes her staged or fake video content, leading her to entertain unwanted actions towards herself.

Out of nowhere, someone appears to save her in the guise of Kiko’s character Archie, a computer shop owner. He sticks with Megan from the moment he saves her. Megan is not at all pleased.

But he has three words for her about how to deal with problems as an enemy, without harming herself: Attack. Conquer. Eliminate. And once he’s convinced that she’s already got a hold of herself, he promises to let her be. The problem is that she sees herself as the enemy she must slay.

Supporting Cindy and Kiko’s fresh tandem are Yayo Aguila, Boboy Garovillo, Irma Adlawan, Ruby Ruiz, JC Tiuseco, young actor Lawrence dela Cruz, and with a special participation by Diego Loyzaga. The film is directed by Dado Lumibao.

Well now, let’s talk about Cindy who is able to juggle her films and the much-talked-about show of Willie Revilliame, “Wil To Win.” Since it was launched, Kuya Wil has been a hot topic among Gen Zs on social media who are doing parodies of his “sermons” to his production staff on air.

Cindy explained that as of recent, things have changed on set and that Kuya Wil has mellowed. “Hindi na po niya kami sinesermonan,” she said. “At never naman niya ako nasermonan live.”

According to Cindy, the energy inside the studio is amazing and that what they’re focusing on is helping the thousands of fans and even hundreds who line up each day. They feed them and make sure that help is given to where it is due.

She wanted to explain to the netizens, “Nakakaloka si Kuya Wil pero napakabait kaya sana manood kayo araw-araw.” If ever Kuya Wil reprimands on air it is because he means well and it is nothing personal. She said, “Si Kuya Wil, gusto lang niya kami talaga turuan, relax na lang kami.”

Catch Cindy on “Wil To Win” at 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and Kiko Estrada on “Lumuhod ka sa Lupa” every 7:30 p.m. on TV5.
