Hotel pushes wellness advocacy as anniversary blowout

CEBU, Philippines - As a player in the hospitality industry, Golden Prince Hotel and Suites wants to put a premium on health and wellness for Filipino families in its attempt to promote a "bigger cause," in time for the celebration of its seventh year in the industry.

In its yearly "anniversary blowout" to the public, Golden Prince highlights the need for families to go through health revolution in order to strengthen family ties by eating and playing together, among other things.

Wellness talks

Golden Prince, a sister company of seasoned hospitality player Golden Valley Hotel, last Friday sponsored a series of health and wellness talks tackling down the "untold connection" of nutrition and stress and the truth about diet, exercise and obesity.

National Nutritional Council head Parolita Mission and Mark Ong, a nutritionist from Nestle Philippines graced the occasion as  speakers.

Aside from the scheduled  talks, an interactive cooking demonstration was also held with Golden Prince Sous chef Marlou Almasco as speaker. Likewise, a blood letting activity was also conducted through the Philippine Red Cross.

According to Golden Prince management trainee Aaron Que, addressing health issues became their main thrust this year as they wanted Filipinos to realize the possible downsides of poor eating habits, especially during the holiday seasons in December to January.

"We don't want Cebuanos to become obese people. Promoting healthy lifestyle, especially after all the partying, is very much needed to cut the vicious cycle," Que said.

Comforts of home

Golden Prince, located on Acacia St. corner Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City, has 57 well-appointed rooms and suites that Que said "combine space, elegance and functionality as what a traveler wants."

"Our hotel blends features and international standards of service with the comforts of home," said Que.

The hotel is also said to provide the traveler with more than just accommodation as every window offers a view of the hills of Cebu or the stretches of the sea. It also boasts of an array of modern facilities and amenities with a fully-equipped business center ready for all work needs.

Its sound-proof function rooms can be configured for 20 to 200 persons seating capacity while guests can also enjoy snacks, refreshments and sumptuous food at the Prince Fusion Gourmet restaurant.

Peak season

Que said Golden Prince has been enjoying brisk occupancy rates, especially now that they are headed to their peak season, the -ber months.

Its healthy and solid occupancy levels are attributed to its efforts on making continuous innovation and a dedication to the highest of standards, combining friendliness and efficiency with the finest tradition of hotel-keeping.

Such innovation and dedication, Que added, have helped them weather the negative effects of the looming competition.

Presently, the hotel is working  on a building expansion to house additional rooms and suites as well as the most in demand amenities such as a gym area.
