Pamutol sa kahoy gibabagan
CEBU, Philippines — Nangayo og Temporary Environmental Protection Order ang magtiayong Democrito ug Lourdes Barcenas batok sa padayong pagpamutol sa kahoy daplin sa karsada sa Dakbayan sa Naga hangtud Carcar.
Ang magtiayong Barcenas kinsa pulos mga abogado nisang-at og petisyon sa Court of Appeals alang sa Issuance of a Writ of Kalikasan to Protect Roadside Trees batok sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources ug Department of Public Works and Highways sa Rehiyon 7.
Ilang gipasikad ang petisyon sa hukom sa Korte Suprema niadtong Abril 13, 2010 sa pagpanalipod sa kakahuyan daplin sa karsada nga nahulga nga putlon sa DPWH ug DENR sa habagatang bahin sa Lalawigan sa Sugbo.
Naagian sa mga Barcenas ang pagpamutol sa kahoy sa may Inuboran, Naga City ug ilang nasayran nga hangtud pa kini sa Dakbayan sa Carcar.
“If the threat of the respondents to proceed with the cutting of trees in Perrelos, Carcar City will materialize, it will be a terrible and irreversible loss of centuries-old Carcar trees,” pagbasa sa petisyon.
Tumong sa pagpamutol sa kahoy mao ang pagpalapad sa karsada.
Apan alang sa mga Barcenas dili kini igo nga rason nga putlon ang mga kahoy.
Kini gumikan kay walay kahasol nga nasinati ang mga motorista sa maong lugar nga ilang gihulagway nga lapad na ang karsada ug dili trapik.
Ang lakang sa pagpamutol sa kahoy giingong sukwahi kini sa kampanya sa gobiyerno sa pagdasig sa katawhan nga mananum og kahoy diha daplin sa karsada ug mga plaza.
Bisan may gahum pa ang DENR sa paghatag og permit sa pagputol sa mga kahoy, sumala pa sa mga Barcenas nga supak gihapon kini sa gimando sa Konstitusyon.
“Because of the imminent danger that the roadside trees along Naga City up to Carcar City, Cebu will be cut and destroyed to make way for a highway as claimed by the respondents, there is urgent need that this Honorable Court of Appeals will please issue a Temporary Environmental Protection Order to preserve these useful and beautiful trees,” matud sa mga Barcenas sa ilang petisyon.
