PLDT hitters strike again
MANILA, Philippines — PLDT didn’t leave anything to chance as it steamrolled past Capital1 Solar, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, yesterday to seize the solo lead in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Unlike in their first two outings, the High Speed Hitters had this one under control as they dominated from start to finish to fashion out their third straight victory that pushed them to solo first place.
PLDT coach Rald Ricafort and team captain Kath Arado agreed it was all about consistency.
“Ever since, it’s about being consistent every game and huwag kami complacent or frustrated sa mga mangyayari,” said Ricafort.
“Importante talaga consistency, lalo na sa training,” said Arado.
Arado also stressed the need to further toughen up on defense as they approach a tougher schedule ahead starting with Chery Tiggo next week.
“Unang una reception next games kailangan namin palakasin pa dahil malakas sa service next games namin,” said Arado, who presided over her team’s floor defense with seven excellent receptions and 14 digs.
Savannah Davison continued to lead the way as she scattered 17 points while Erika Santos and Fiolla Ceballos each logged 11 hits for a PLDT team eyeing to finally win it all.
The Solar Spikers dropped to 0-3.
Earlier, the league partnered with Watsons Philippines as its official health and beauty partner in simple contract signing that was graced by league president Ricky Palou, commissioner Sherwin Malonzo and marketing director Fred Fateh as well as Watsons chief operating officer Jefferson Go, PR Sharon Decapoa and customer director Jared de Guzman.
