Grupo giumol batok forest fires

CEBU, Philippines - Gilambigit sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources ang publiko sa pagtabang nga mapugngan ang forest ug bush fires nga posibling motumaw panahon sa El Niño phenomenon.

Kini human nasunog ang ilang National Greening Plantations sa Campatoc, Cagawasan, Dagohoy sa probinsiya sa Bohol niadtong April 30.

Si DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Isabelo Montejo nitug-an nga gihugtan karon ang pag-edukar sa komunidad ilabina sa kabukiran labot sa sunog sa kakahoyan.

Kini pinaagi sa pagtukod og mga local community fire brigades matag plantation.

“We have composed a fire brigade in all of our National Greening Program (NGP) plantations particularly on nine critical areas to focus more on fire prevention rather than control,” matud ni Montejo.

Dinhi sa Sugbo, critical areas sa NGP anaa sa lungsod sa Argao ug Oslob samtang ang uban sa Bohol ug Negros Oriental.

Gimandoan usab ni Montejo ang mga Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers nga mobutang og fire lines nga usa ka 10-meter wide vegetation-free strips nga sagad ibutang sa borders sa plantation aron makontrolar ang forest fire.( /GMR)(BANAT NEWS)
