The Campos Collection
For Cebu-based Ilongga Tina Campos-Magistrado, self-expression through wearable art is a calling.
Tina, a Business Management graduate, initially dabbled into accessory design in 2002 while she was working in a fashion magazine company for four years. Exposure to this creative industry pushed Tina to further her interests and led to her establishing a jewelry business in 2009.
When asked about her inspirations, this mother of three shared, “The people around me are my inspiration. My collection is divided between one-of-a kind personally inspired pieces, and custom-created through my frequent collaborations with clients and the community that we are helping. Each piece tells a story of its own, beautifully well made and constantly evolving.”
Tina Campos Creations Jewelry supports a number of livelihood and craft initiatives. Tina collaborates with Cebu’s shell crafters for her new line of Mother-of-Pearl shell clutch purse, earrings and necklaces. She also purchases yakan fabric from the residents of Lamitan, Basilan and works with the community’s livelihood organization in the creation of her jewelry and bags. Income received from this initiative enables the community’s Muslim children to go to school.
Tina’s latest collection ranges from her Mother-of-Pearl statement piece necklaces to her best-selling heritage earrings. At present, she is working on a collection of local weaves from Argao, Cebu and Iloilo communities.
“My jewelry pieces are formed using a variety of materials: semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, Mother of Pearls, shells, local weaves, wood, brass metals. We also have gold and sterling silver.”
With her eye-catching, thoughtfully designed pieces having the advantage of also being affordably priced, Tina’s business trajectory has nowhere else to go but up and she has become a favorite of the bazaar crowd. Truly an amazing collection of elegant pieces from a passionate artist and genuine humanitarian!
