The new crop
One thing that makes fashion one of the most exciting and dynamic industries to be in is the lightning-speed pace by which talent, concepts and new-found ideas pop up. Certainly, the prolific masters and legends of the style industry perpetually inspire the up-and-coming talents. Subsequently, the rise of young and aspiring creative talent continues to invigorate. It is this new crop that will also ultimately define what the future of fashion will be — one component at a time.
Quite literally, it takes a whole village to put together a new collection, an editorial shoot or a fashion campaign. First you have the designers and their dedicated staff of cutters, sewers and assistants. Then there are the photographers, stylists and makeup artists who stop at nothing to get the money shot. Similarly, the models — all images of absolute perfection — work just as hard to give justice to the concepts and designs of their creative team.
An irreverent fashion tribe, dubbed the Philippine Fashion Group, is slowly carving its niche in the fashion industry — both locally and in the international sphere. A non-profit group of designers, models, stylists and photographers, the group aims to help members find channels where their bodies of work can be highlighted. What makes this young and dynamic group so inspiring is the passion and commitment its members have for their respective crafts. Case in point: they have been known to create editorials non-stop so that they are perpetually perfecting their skills and exploring the extents of their talents. We meet the people behind the scenes who, collectively, have created some of the most arresting images and launched some of the freshest collections this season.
