Feeling good

BETWEEN YOU & ME - BETWEEN YOU & ME By Jacquilou Blanco -
There are lots of ways to feel good. Some go to a spa, watch a good movie, read a book, have a facial, exercise or treat themselves.

Here are some other ways you can feel great:

Laugh. Studies show that adults laugh only 15 times a day while toddlers laugh 400 times a day. That is such a big difference. We should laugh more because laughter relaxes our muscles and boosts our immunity.

• Take a "power shower." I’ve tried this. Make the last 20 or 30 seconds of your morning shower a blast of cool water. Medyo malamig but the temperature change improves blood flow and it will definitely give you a burst of energy.

Massage your face. After I cleanse my face, after I apply my moisturizer, I tap my cheeks, forehead, chin with only fingertips. Then I massage them gently. Aside from being good for the skin, it will really relax you.

Eat a banana. At the gym where I workout, they always have bananas ready for their clients. Whenever I am tired while working out, I have a break and have a banana. It gives back the energy I need.

I’ve found out that bananas contain two brain chemicals that support your mood, seratonin and norepinephrine.

Throw your fears away. When I feel anxious or stressed, I get a pen and paper and write down how I feel. Once I get that out of my system, I throw the paper in the thrash. I throw away my worries, too.

Make little changes. I make it a point to try something new every so often. I eat something I’ve never tried before or haven’t eaten for a long time, I try a new exercise, or try a new shampoo.

They say that making little changes gets your energy flowing. And it definitely feels good to add something new to your day.

Perform a kind act. Make someone go ahead of you when paying at the grocery counter, or be more patient when you’re parking. Little acts of kindness always do the doer and receiver more good.

Have flowers at your home. I enjoy arranging a bunch of flowers in a vase. Doesn’t it feel good entering one’s home seeing and smelling flowers? It makes my day and makes me feel more of a woman. It puts me in a good mood, too.

Get out. Try being cooped up in a room the whole day. It becomes suffocating.

It is good and relaxing to spend time outside each day. You don’t have to go outside for long. Even 10 minutes to breathe the fresh air, or listen to the wind or simply to feel sunlight on your face. Convening with nature will rejuvenate you.

Maintain a gratitude journal. Every night before going to bed, try to write down anything you have been blessed with during the day. It can be as simple as beating the traffic or waking up on time.

I always sleep better ending my day with positive thoughts.

These are simple things you can do but they will make you calmer, happier and more energetic.
