MANILA, Philippines — Reigning champion St. Benilde walloped Jose Rizal U, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20, to stay unbeaten in the NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball yesterday at the San Beda Gym in Manila.

Clydel Catarig and Wielyn Estoque joined forces with 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Lady Blazers claimed their second straight win to kick off their four-peat bid in style.

St. Benilde needed only 64 minutes for the win that propelled them to joint second spot with San Sebastian College and Letran, behind University of Perpetual Help (3-0).

Like St. Benilde, Perpetual walked in the park against Lyceum, 25-22, 25-21, 25-17, in only 71 minutes of play.

Winnie Bedaña fired 17 points on 15 hits and two blocks while Shaila Omipon and Jemalyn Menor chipped in 10 and nine points, respectively.

In the men’s division, Jefferson Marapoc (24) and Kobe Tabuga (22) conspired as Perpetual (3-0) fended off winless Lyceum (0-3), 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 19-25, 15-9, to retain the lead.
