Chery averts disaster vs Farm Fresh
MANILA, Philippines — Chery Tiggo woke up from an opening-set disaster to turn back Farm Fresh, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20, yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena.
Ara Galang was the spark the Crossovers needed as she unloaded 20 points, spread from 15 kills, four blocks and a rocket-like ace, powering the franchise back inside the magic four with a 5-3 record.
Cess Robles also shone bright and unloaded a match-high 21 hits while Cza Carandang quietly but effectively chipped in 12 points, mostly coming up front where she also played solid net defense.
“Personally, may hugot ako from last game, wala kasi ako na-contribute,” said Galang. “Kaya mindset ko ngayon hindi pwede hindi ako makabangon from last game kaya pinilit ko talaga maka-contribute.”
Galang, of course, was referring to the team’s heartbreaking 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7 meltdown at the hands of Petro Gazz Tuesday.
But at first, it looked like Chery Tiggo was still reeling from that loss as it started out flat and error-prone, allowing Farm Fresh to snare the opening set.
Until the Crossovers decided enough is enough.
