MANILA, Philippines – Blacklist International defeated Execration, 3-1, to reign supreme in the Honor of Kings nationwide community tournament Tempest Cup.

In partnership with McDonalds Philippines, the Tempest Cup was open to amateur and professional Honor of Kings players and was held at different branches of the fast-food chain across the country, with the finals taking place at McDonald's Frontera Verde last Friday, October 4.

Fresh from their runner-up finish at the Philippine qualifiers for the Honor of Kings Championship 2024, Blacklist International survived close comebacks by Execration to take home the community crown and help the team build momentum for the coming world tournament.

“I’m so happy na nag-champion kami sa first ever McDonald’s Tempest Cup and mina-manifest ko talaga to, na manalo kami para maging momentum din namin sa darating na Honor of Kings Championship [sa Jakarta]," said Blacklist International coach Gerald "Tgee" Gelacio.

The Tempest Cup saw over 100 teams join, a great turnout for an esports title that was just released globally last June.

"Esports was one of the most in-demand activities when Honor of Kings was launched in the Philippines [earlier this year]. A lot of passionate people in the community was looking for competitive tournaments. I also believe that esports has the capacity to bring communities together through shared experiences and we wanted to start that early on in the game's launch," Level Infinite senior esports manager Angelica Neri told PhilStar.com.

Partnering with McDonalds, Neri shared how Honor of Kings and McDonalds Philippines had shared goals in empowering the gaming community. Though the Tempest Cup has concluded, fans can expect more from the partnership between the two in the future.

"After the Tempest Cup, the Honor of Kings Championship 2024 is up next with top Filipino teams BOOM Esports and Blacklist International representing the country in the international stage. For 2025, there will be an exciting announcement soon at the conclusion of the Honor of Kings Championship," teased Neri.
