MANILA, Philippines — Letran went to an unlikely hero in the clutch as it shocked College of St. Benilde, 71-69, yesterday to reclaim a place in the magic four in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

Missing his first five shots, Kevin Santos persevered and hit his first only basket in the game in the dying seconds that turned out to be the game winner as the Knights snared their third win in five outings, good for joint third with the University of Perpetual Help Altas.

And the Knights sent the Blazers sprawling to their first defeat after opening the season with four wins in a row.

“I told the boys ‘let’s focus on defense and at the same time, itong game na ito, just keep the game close, pagdating sa dulo we have a chance,’” said Letran coach Allen Ricardo.
