NGCP ‘di na kailangang imbestigahan - solon

MANILA, Philippines — Unfair na sisihin pa sa pagkakaantala ng ilang proyekto at hindi na rin kailangang gisahin pa sa imbestigasyon ng House Committee on Legislative Franchises ang National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) dahil sumusunod naman ito sa responsibilidad ng prangkisa nito.

“The BIR in the Ways and Means hearing clearly stated that NGCP has been paying all the tax liabilities of the company, and this was confirmed by BIR chief,” pahayag ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.

Inihayag ni Rodriguez na mismong si Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairperson Mona Dimalanta ay kinumpirmang sumusunod ang NGCP sa responsibilidad nito sa pagbabayad ng tax.

“In another hearing, I confirm that what we have seen from our record is that compliant with the 3% franchise tax,” tugon ni Dimalanta kay Rodriguez sa pagdinig ng komite na ang tinutukoy ay ang prangkisa na ipinagkaloob sa NGCP sa ilalim ng Republic Act 9511.

“Precisely, that was the issue. NGCP has complied; BIR said NGCP has complied, then why are we here? Are we trying to dissolve the 50-year franchise of NGCP? Is that the reason, Mr. Chairman?,” dagdag pa ni Rodriguez.

Ipinagtanggol din ni Rodriguez ang NGCP na iginiit na hindi ito dapat sisihin sa pagkakaantala ng limang taon sa Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project matapos ang isyu ng ‘right of way ‘ sa golf course.

Aminado naman ang Department of Energy (DOE) na ang pagkakaantala sa  transmission projects  ay hindi naman aniya maaring isisi lamang sa NGCP dahilan may mga kaso rin ng pagkakaantala ng pag­aapruba ng ERC ukol dito.
