MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating rose by five percentage points in the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The poll, conducted from March 28 to 31, showed 79 percent of adult Filipinos who said they were satisfied with the President’s performance and 13 percent dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction score of +66, classified by SWS as “very good.”

The remaining eight percent of respondents were undecided on the matter.

Duterte received a net satisfaction score of +60, also categorized as “very good,” in December 2018. His first quarter rating also tied his personal high record in June 2017.

The President’s net satisfaction score also hit a new record-high in Mindanao, his bailiwick.

It was an excellent +88 (92 percent satisfied, five percent dissatisfied) in March 2019 from +73 in December 2018. It surpassed the previous record of +87 registered in March 2017 for the area.

It increased by seven points but stayed in “very good territory” in the Visayas, at +69 (81 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) in March, from +62 (76 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in December.

Duterte’s net satisfaction score was recorded at “very good” at +56 (73 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied), up by four points from +52 (69 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied) in December.

It also stayed “very good” in Metro Manila at +61 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied from +58 (75 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) previously.

The President’s net satisfaction rating rose to a “very good” +69 (83 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied), also a new record-high. It was up by seven points from +62 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in December 2018 and surpassed the previous record of +66 in December 2017 and June 2018.

It stayed “very good” in class D or the masa at a new record-high +68 (80 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) in March, up 10 points from +58 (73 percent satisfied, 15 percent dissatisfied) in December. This surpassed the previous record of +66 in June 2017.

His net satisfaction score remained very good in class E at +58 (74 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) in March, although down by seven points from +65 (77 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) in December.

The non-commissioned survey was based on face-to-face interviews of 1,440 adults, 18 years old and above, nationwide.

It has sampling error margins of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points for national percentages.
