CrossFit athletes take center stage in Davao

MANILA, Philippines -  CrossFit Madayaw, one of Davao’s best homegrown CrossFit gyms, will host the region’s biggest CrossFit competition under the Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) program on May 27.

The competition, dubbed “Tempra’s Battle of the Strongest,” gathers CrossFit athletes and enthusiasts from all over the country to compete in a whole-day program at Matina Town Square, Davao City.

The event, which stakes over P160,000 in prizes, is jointly organized by CrossFit Madayaw and the Visit Davao Fun Sale Execom. It is one of the highlights of the VDFS campaign.

Ninety CrossFit athletes, representing different CrossFit boxes/gyms from all over the country, have so far signed up for the event where they will battle each other through four workout sets in a whole-day event.

There will be four divisions with the top three from each category receiving prizes and bonuses from sponsors.

CrossFit was developed by Greg Glassman, whose system features routines which are constantly varied functional movements that reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more.

Tempra’s Battle of the Strongest is co-presented by the Department of Tourism, City Government of Davao, AirAsia, Bonamine, Tempra, BPI Cards and Cebu Pacific.
