Genuino, Silverio grace 2009 Golden Wheel award

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corporation chairman Efraim Genuino will be the guest speaker as the 2009 Golden Wheel Awards pays tribute to the top achievers of Philippine motorsports today at the Pagcor Grand Theater in Pagcor Parañaque.

Genuino has been known as a solid partner in the development of Philippine motorsports, particularly in the training of young karters, by supporting their international stints.

Also on its sixth year, the Golden Wheel Awards will induct one of the legendary pillars of Philippine motorsports into the Hall of Fame – multi-titled touring car and rallye champion Edmundo “Dante” Silverio.

Silverio was one of the prominent fixtures in the 70’s just before making a big name in a new role as Toyota coach in the PBA. On the race track at Greenhills, he rose to prominence in 1972 when he captured a rare double feat winning the International Greenhills Grand Prix and, two months later, the Royal Rally of Champions.
