BANGKOK, Thailand — Empty-handed.

The four fighters representing the Philippines had a fruitless campaign in ONE Championship’s “Warriors of the World” showpiece at the Impact Arena, here.

Rabin Catalan and Jimmy Yabo were dealt with swift losses by their respective opponents.

Kicking off things in the undercard, Catalan fell prey to Kritsada Kongsrich, who was enjoying a hometown crowd. The Iloilo City native was clamped down early and succumbed to the Thai’s punishing elbows.

The referee stopped the fight at the 3:01 marker of the opening salvo.

Yabo was just as unfortunate. Also falling prey to a Thai fighter in Sagetdao Petpayatha, the Cebuano got tagged with a vicious knee to the gut that proved too much for his aging frame.

The 36-year-old Yabo’s skid extended to five matches after that loss that came in the 2:44th mark of the first round.

Meanwhile, in the distaff side, April Osenio looked sharp in the first few minutes of her clash with Chinese newcomer Xiong Jing Nan.

But that withered away after just as the Team Lakay ward broke free off a submission try. The Filipino was unable to hold her ground when Jing Nan pummeled her with fists.

The referee stopped the fight at with 3:44 on the fight clock.

Rome Trinidad, who was debuting in the promotion, looked like she was going to script an impressive outing over crowd darling Rika Ishige. Unloading strike after strike, the Filipina looked in control.  She got past the first round bell only to be masterfully locked by Ishige with a rear-naked choke

Trinidad tapped out at the 4:05 marker of the second round.

The Philippines has suffered eight straight losses in ONE Championship—the most heart-breaking being in Eduard Folayang’s stunning defeat in the “Legends of the World” card in Manila just this last month.

Kevin Belingon was the last Pinoy to win. His victory — over newbie Kevin Chung — came in that card in MOA Arena.
