Jeron Teng open to play for any PBA team: 'I just want to make it to the league'
MANILA, Philippines — Jeron Teng is projected to be picked early in the first round of the PBA Draft next week.
And while everyone is curious as to which PBA team he’ll land on, the former UAAP standout would rather worry about something else.
“It doesn’t matter kung pang-ilan ako ma-pick,” he said during the PBA Draft Combine at the Gatorade Hoops Gym in Mandaluyong. “Ever since I started basketball, it’s always my dream to follow my father’s footsteps, so I’m just really excited to enter the league.”
Asked about his top concern leading to the biggest day of his hooping career, the prospect, who has had multiple national team tours under his belt, noted of his conditioning.
“Sana ma-impress sila sa fitness ko,” he said. “Kababalik ko pa lang after graduation, so I’m taking my time in conditioning. I’m trying to learn everything I can from this two-day camp.”
Teng, a second-generation cager, joins Kiefer Ravena — who is expected to be drafted behind Christian Standhardinger barring any pre-draft complications. Also in the class are college standouts Raymar Jose, Davon Potts and Rey Nambatac.
Beyond his state of shape, Teng is oozing with confidence: “I think I’m prepared — physically and mentally prepared. [I’ve been] working hard preparing for the draft.”
“Any team will do basta mabigyan lang ako ng chance to play in the PBA,” he closed.
