Bradley no Mayweather, says Pacquiao

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – If Timothy Bradley thinks he can repeat what Floyd Mayweather Jr. did to Manny Pacquiao in their fight last year, he better think again.

This after Pacquiao pointed out how Bradley’s skill set pales in comparison to Mayweather, who used his boxing brilliance and defense to defeat the Filipino icon in the sport’s richest fight ever.

Speaking to Lance Pugmire of The Los Angeles Times, Pacquiao, who is in Los Angeles for the final phase of his training, said the slower Bradley cannot box as efficiently as Mayweather.

“No. They [Mayweather and Bradley] box different – way, way different. The skill, he [Bradley]’s slower. The speed … we know. I’m just being honest,” said the Filipino icon.

Against Mayweather, Pacquiao had a hard time landing significant blows because of the undefeated American’s slick defense.

Complicating matters was the injury on Pacquiao’s right shoulder, which the fighting congressman claimed prevented him from unleashing powerful hooks.

This time though, Pacquiao – whose shoulder has fully healed – said it will be a different case against Bradley.

“I can throw a lot of punches on him,” he added.

Pacquiao and Bradley will settle the score on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (April 10 Manila time). – Dino Maragay
