Falcons’ Nalos slapped one-game suspension
MANILA, Philippines - UAAP Season 78 basketball commissioner Rebo Saguisag yesterday suspended Adamson’s Joseph Nalos for one game following his ejection in the Falcons’ 72-87 loss to Ateneo last Saturday.
“Per Rule VI.B, an athlete who is thrown out of or ejected from any game is automatically suspended in the immediate succeeding game,” said Saguisag, who served the Adamson guard with a notice of suspension two days after the incident.
Nalos took down Ateneo’s Vince Tolentino in a physical sequence at the 5:23rd mark of the third quarter with the Eagles leading, 60-47. Tolentino fell hard, prompting Eagles skipper Kiefer Ravena to rush and push Nalos. The Adamson stalwart was slapped a disqualifying foul while Ravena was issued an unsportsmanlike foul.
Cebuano ace Nalos will have to sit it out tomorrow when the Falcons (1-8) try to keep their slim hopes alive against embattled defending champion National U.
Nalos became the second from the Adamson bench to get suspended this season following coach Mike Fermin, who was banned in the Falcons’ Sept. 23 first round encounter with NU. Fermin was sent off in AdU’s previous match against La Salle for his slit-throat gesture on game officials.
